K-Pop Agencies HYBE, YG & Artists Donate to Hong Kong Fire Victims (2026)

A devastating tragedy struck Hong Kong, and the K-pop world responded with open hearts and generous donations. In the wake of a deadly apartment fire, several major players in the K-pop industry stepped up to offer support, providing crucial aid to those affected. Let's dive into the details of who gave what and how they're making a difference.

Leading the charge, HYBE, the entertainment powerhouse behind global sensation BTS, spearheaded the relief efforts. Through its HYBE Music Group APAC, which manages labels like BigHit Music, Belift Lab, and Source Music, they contributed a substantial 500 million won (approximately $341,390). These funds will be channeled through the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association, working in collaboration with a Hong Kong-based nonprofit to assist the families impacted by the fire. The company's CEO, Yu Dong-ju, expressed heartfelt condolences, hoping the donation would bring comfort and aid in the recovery process.

But the generosity didn't stop there. Girl group (G)I-DLE also made a significant contribution, donating 1 million yuan (around $141,235) through China's Fosun Foundation. Yuqi, a Chinese member of the group, shared her wishes for everyone's safety on social media, demonstrating the personal connection and concern felt by the artists.

YG Entertainment also joined the relief efforts, donating 1 million Hong Kong dollars (about $128,483) via its official Weibo account. Adding to the support, Jackson Wang, a member of GOT7 and a Hong Kong native, donated another 1 million Hong Kong dollars through his clothing label, Team Wang, to the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Foundation. Wang also used his platform to share information about local shelters, urging his followers to ensure everyone, including animals, received the necessary assistance.

Furthermore, SM Entertainment also played a part, donating 1 million Hong Kong dollars to the Hong Kong Red Cross. Their groups, aespa and Riize, further contributed 500,000 and 250,000 Hong Kong dollars, respectively. This widespread support showcases the K-pop industry's commitment to humanitarian efforts.

But here's where it gets controversial... Some might argue about the scale of these donations or whether they are sufficient. Others might question the motives behind these acts of charity.
