In October, the Pinellas County Commission gave the green light to a $12 million restoration project, which will see The Palladium closed for approximately a year. During this time, the theater will undergo a complete metamorphosis, focusing on enhancing its seating, sightlines, and acoustics.

"We're replacing our century-old seats with modern, comfortable ones that still maintain the building's historic charm," he explained.
The renovation will also address sightline issues, especially in the balcony, ensuring that every seat offers a great view of the stage. While they'll lose about 50 seats, Wilborn assures that The Palladium will remain the most affordable venue in town.
As for the Side Door Cabaret, located underneath the main theater, Wilborn hinted at some improvements but assured that it remains his favorite room.
During the 12-month hiatus, The Palladium team is working hard to ensure that the community's artistic needs are met. They're collaborating with major clients and planning off-site performances to keep the arts alive during this transitional period.
"We're committed to keeping our full-time staff on board throughout this process," Wilborn said.
The funding for this ambitious project comes from a mix of public and private sources, with significant contributions from the city, state, and county, as well as over $8 million raised privately.
