Troy edged UAB 86-85 on Sunday, with Victor Valdes pouring in 26 points to lead the Trojans, and Thomas Dowd delivering the decisive layup at the buzzer after grabbing a defensive rebound from Cobi Campbell’s missed three. Dowd finished with 11 points as Troy completed the dramatic comeback.
Valdes also contributed five assists and three steals for Troy (7-5). Cooper Campbell chipped in 14 points on a 5-for-11 shooting line, including 4 of 8 from three, and handed out nine assists. Theo Seng was perfect from the floor, going 5-for-5 to total 12 points. Cobi Campbell scored 12 as well, rounding out Troy’s multi-player scoring attack.
For UAB (7-4), Ahmad Robinson led with 25 points and eight helpers. Salim London added 19 points and three steals, while Daniel Rivera contributed 10 points and seven rebounds. Chance Westry also reached double figures with 10 points.
Notably, Valdes sparked Troy with 21 of his points after halftime, fueling the comeback that sealed the win.
